Good news? Bad news?

My checked luggage arrived on the later flight with me. Had I caught the first flight out of Dallas I would have had to come back to Dayton and claim my bag.
I'm still miffed.

One for the road or air or WHATEVER!

Kind of a generic beer compared to what I've been drinking, but when you're stuck in an airport ya just wanna drink.

You feelin' any empathy for me yet?

Sweetness

Just had a Dunkin Donuts coffee roll. Feelin a little better now.
I had to put something sweet in my mouth after all the vile
profanities that came out of it earlier.

Run Forest!

I haven't shaved in two days. I didn't wash my hair today. And I just
finished running thru the airport in a flannel shirt. I look, feel,
and smell like the hillbilly I am. I feel sorry for the person that
sits next to me in the way home.

Dayton or Bust

45 minutes late out of PHX. Now I've missed my connection from Dallas
to Dayton. A 5 hour delay. Into Dayton around 10pm.

The Waiting

30 minutes past set departure and still in PHX and still on the plane.

Last day in PHX, but not the last blog

Today I will see sunrise in Phoenix, the sunset in Kentucky and I will have lunch in Dallas. All the NM AZ bookmarks have been have been deleted from my iPhone and the photos downloaded from the camera. What a great trip, but as the old song goes, (a one and a two and a three) “Be it ever so humble (and I doooooo mean humble) there's no place like home.”

I won't be posting everyday, but this has been kinda fun. Even if just keeps me in track of myself I'm going to try and keep it going. But maybe just a post a week.

The live tracking is done as of tomorrow so Bailey can't stalk me anymore.

Colder Darker Matter

by Cornelia Parker. Another interesting piece at PAM

Full Circle

Normally I would say that, "This one is for my friend Phillip..." aaaaaa no. This one is all for me. Do I look happy or what ! ? The manager took the picture and afterwards he and I had a nice talk about the iPhone. Win, win.

Swarm of Fireflies

Went to the Phoenix Art Museum (PAM, now ain't that a cute acronym?) One of the most interesting exhibits I have ever seen was installation piece by the artist Yayoi Kusama. It was called,”You Who are Getting Obliterated in the Dancing Swarm of Fireflies.” Whew! That's a mouthful.
It's a large, dark room with mirrors on all the walls, ceiling and floor. There are hundreds of small diameter cables of various lengths hanging from the ceiling. Each with an LED on the end that can change colors. The mirrors reflect the lights into infinity. When I stood in the middle of all these lights it looked like I was in the floating the swarm of stars. Surreal. You can barely see my silhouette in the images.

Audios

PHX.

The guys got out early. Or should I say I got their butts there early.
They flew to cold KY and I stayed to sun by the pool. AAAAA HaHaHaHaHa. AAAAA HaHaHaHaHa. Aaa . . . Honestly I got little too cloudy to stay by the pool. But it's more sun than this cracker will see the rest of the year.

Why is it if you put a white t-shirt in the sun it turns whiter, but if you stick a lily-white body in the sun it turns red?

"Hey mommy can we get Shamoo to jump over my innertube?"

"Honey, I saw him eating breakfast. It's too dangerous."

Starting the day off right

Everyday in PHX we got a nice, hot, free breakfast. With a purchase of a
room of course. So the diet will have to wait, and wait and weight.

U of L 3, UK nil

At the games this week Scott wore his U of L shirt and Mike wore his UK
cap. Scott was gettin' all the love and Mike got none.

One little girl pointed at Scott's shirt and said "love your shirt." and then pointed
Mike's cap and said "I don't like your cap."
That's pretty much how it went all weekend. Well, 3 or 4 people this
weekend anyway.

WOW!

The women out here, how can I put this delicately, the women in PHX
have . . . are very well endowed. I think I will move to Phoenix.

Bailey's new U AZ friend.

I just relaized this man is touching The Bailey!

He should get tested!

GO BIG BLUE!

UConn unfortuately. This is what a real fan should look like.

Go Cards!

AZ Cards of course. Scott said, "This one's for Angie. "

Stop Worrying!

I know many of you are concerned that since I haven't posted a beer
picture in few days and that I may have stopped drinkin'.

Well rest your fears.
Gorden's Marzen.

The rest of these beers aren't mine

Swear!

True story

I forgot a story about our cactus walk yesterday.
Bailey got bit by a rattlesnake. . . rattlesnake died.

Great night for baseball

After our hike today we headed out to see a spring training game (Rangers vs Brewers) in Surprise AZ. It was a 65 and clear evening so we dressed a little warmer than for the hike.
Josh Hamilton (one of my mom's favorite players) came up to the plate for the third time with a runner on first. He hits a shot to straight away center field, but the fielder jumps at the wall and robs him of a home run. The runner on first is half way to third and has to double back, but gets caught in a double-play back a first ending the inning.
Josh comes back to first to wait for his glove and cap and I couldn't resist yelling,
“Josh, it ended up being just a long double play.”
He then holds his index finger and thumb to show, 'missed it by that much.'
Mike and I were thinking when have you ever made eye contact with a major league player?
Milwaukee Brewers at Texas Rangers in Surprise AZ
Great seats hey buddy?

Take a Hike Boys!

We all took a hike today at Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area about 30 miles from the hotel. What an exotic area. Especially for someone from KY. I made the mistake of trying to pick up a tennis ball sized cactus. I ain't bright. It got stuck to my fingers and I couldn't get loose. I finally stepped on the cactus to shake off, but four barbs were stuck in my fingers. They were a little more than ¾ of an inch, but they were ¾ of the way into my finger. I did get them pulled finally. I wish I had taken a picture, but you understand it hurt.

SNAKE!!!!! Here's the first thing we saw. It didn't have a rattle, which I think is a good thing.

So many different kids of cactus. (cacti????)

Mike is right at six foot. So my guess is this one is about 30 feet tall.

But next to little stream it changes to cottonwoods. Full of leaves for spring

Univ of Phoenix Stadium

About 20,000 for the games

NOT Artis Gilmore

He said he was a former ball boy for the Colonels

Da Boyz

The Lawyer, Capt. iPhone, Short Straw & Twitter.

Our seats. Pretty good even with that huge electrical cord in the middle.

Gordon Biersch PHX AZ

This one may move to the top of the list. Yum.

Olympian???

This past week I have spent a lot of time above 7000' and imbibing in high carb beverages.
In a sense I've been blood doping and carbo-packing. Too bad I'm not an athlete that can take advantage of it all. My plan for when I return home...salads. Lots and lots of salads. Except for the lettuce and tomato on some subs I've not had much greenery this past week.

PHX (Glendale) hotel

Met up with the guys Phillip, Mike and Scott today. No one had any trouble flying in. The only trouble was taxi drviers didn't seem to know how to get to this hotel. It's that new. Free cookout at the hotel. Great if you like free beer and very rare hamburgers.
One nice surprise was due to a fluke in scheduling each of us got our own room at a lower rate. Pretty nice huh? It's at Residence Inn by the Marriott in Glendale and walking distance to the Univ of Phoenix Stadium.

PHX Weather.

4:30 79 & breezy today in PHX.

Saguaro

I've always wanted to see one of these saguaro cactus.
Biggun ain't he. and I'm not talking about me this time.

These had to be 20 feet tall! They are all over.

Red Rock country. Which is pretty much everywhere

This is the Oak Creek Overview. Below is Hwy AZ 89A that will take you to Sadona.
Incredible, beautiful drive. I know, I've said that in every post. Next year I pack a thesaurus so I can have more words to describe the sites. Oh man! I've got one on my iPhone!

This is what the road looks like from the overview to the valley.
Kinda looks like a 3 year old tring to draw a Thankgiving turkey.

More Desert and More Forest

These are called Teepees. I guess if we steal the land from the Indians you should use their language to name places.

Me and a 200 millions yera old log.

There's them colors again. Stunning huh?

Weather change

High today in Flagstaff 54, PHX 80.

Yesterday.

Yesterday I talked to couple from Cincy that were driving the west.
I've seen a few Ohio plates out here.
Last night I met a woman from Cleveland that was out here with her
kids for spring training. She's 37 and going to try out for the Kent
State fast pitch softball team. She had a scholarship out of high
school, but got married instead. It was an interesting talk.
While at the bar. There was a guy a few tables away that laughed as
loud as I do. I'm not kidding. I couldn't hear the person next to me
talk. I now have new empathy for all my friends and family. But I
ain't sorry.
On my way to Sadona then PHX.

Beaver St. Brewery

Railhead Red
Hey. HEY. This pretty good. Not as strong a Killian's.

Flatbed Ford

"Standing on a corner...

in Winslow Arizona. Such a fine site to see."
A ranger at Pet. For. Nat. Park told me about Winslow and started
speaking those words. Well of course the song got stuck my head and
the only way to get rid of it was to go to Winslow.
There is nothing else here, but a cool, old hotel named La Pasada.

Wide open empty spaces

There are very few people at Pet. For. National. Park today.
SWEEEEEEET!

Weather in N AZ.

Yesterday was windy, cold and partly cloudy. Today at Petrified Forest
sunny, 50 and calm.

Two Fools Tavern ABQ nm

Paulander Hef Weizen. A wheaty, wheat beer.
